FOODS BY HEURA
Food activists Marc Coloma and Bernat Aaos created the plant-based firm Heura in April 2017. Its goal is to develop solutions that will render the existing food system obsolete and hasten the shift to a society in which animals have no place. Their goods’ clear labels, great nutritional qualities, and delicious flavors all pay homage to their Mediterranean culinary heritage.

The University of Oxford has established that a plant-based diet may cut a person’s carbon footprint from food by up to 73%. In light of this, every product that Heura creates is intended to encourage people to make wise decisions three times a day at each meal in order to contribute to a more sustainable world.

Every Heura Good Rebel employee is aware of our company’s commitment to sustainability, and we are actively seeking answers in every aspect of our business. We solely use plant-based components in our new product development and strictly adhere to sustainability standards when selecting the protein sources we use for our goods.

Coffeedesk refers to connections, people, and coffee. Through an online store, an online warehouse for business clients, and a developing chain of boutique cafés, they continue to fill cups with delicious coffee. Specialty coffee isn’t just the product; it’s the entire process of making it, from the farm to the cup, which, because of its intricate structure, calls for the correct equipment, information, expertise, experience, and love. Every day, Coffeedesk aims to give their best to their job.

How does sustainability impact your business?

Our goal is to improve the lives of both coffee growers and consumers. We wish to cultivate taste buds, broaden perspectives, and increase consciousness. Sustainability plays a crucial role in all of these sectors’ good transformation. Our goal is to establish a responsible coffee culture where the product, the ecology in which it is produced, and the labor of the people who provide value at every level will all be valued. The reaction to climate change is crucial in the world of coffee since this rich crop only grows in a narrow region between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. There are already quite high temperatures there, and the circumstances are getting progressively worse. We should be conscious that the ability of future generations to drink coffee of the greatest quality depends on our efforts now.

We obtained approval to reuse packaging materials from all of our suppliers; as a consequence, we reuse cardboard boxes, cut part of them, and make filler materials to take the place of bubble wrap. We fix broken accessories and coffee makers in our dedicated service department at Coffeedesk. In our store, we provide replacement parts for a few of the accessories. We have also set up a Facebook group called “Second-hand Coffeedesk”, whose members can exchange and resell products they have bought from us and give them a second life – almost every product published finds a new owner! The number of participants is presently getting close to 5,000.

Why is sustainable packaging important to your business?

When no longer required, packaging on coffee plantations used to be dropped into the ground because everything was previously packaged in banana leaves or other organic materials and environmental contamination was not a concern. Of course, returning to such a situation would be the best course of action, but we are unsure if doing so would be feasible in the near future. In the meanwhile, we recycle the packaging in which the items arrive at our facility, and we ship orders in sturdy cardboard boxes that our clients frequently recycle (and let us know about it on social media). We encourage the use of reusable packaging in our business and sell things like glass or steel coffee containers, reusable cups, and bottles. Do you use any environmentally friendly products as role models?

It is hard to find a better example of a socially engaged company than Patagonia, whose mission can be summed up in only one sentence: we are in the business to save the planet. The Patagonia team is making every effort to fully use the already-produced materials and give them a second life. We used the same idea to create our Facebook group “Coffeedesk second hand”. There are more and more companies like Patagonia, for example MiiR – a producer of reusable bottles and mugs from Seattle and our supplier, with whom we immediately found a common language. In addition to improving the world by reducing the amount of plastic, MiiR also donates part of the income from each purchase to social purposes. For years, our main suppliers include companies whose values are similar to ours and who are not indifferent to the future of our planet, such as Teapigs – tea brand that uses only biodegradable tea bags, KeepCup – a pioneer in the market of reusable cups, and many other manufacturers of accessories that eliminate disposable tableware.

VEGAN BUNNY
The goal of Veganbunny is to provide self-care delights that make our supporters’ days better. They are well-known among vegans for their organically infused candles, and they are beginning to develop a charming line of preserved bouquets that persist for years, lessening the environmental effect of one-use flowers.

🌱 How does sustainability affect your business?
Our goal is to manage a company that appreciates the environment. Our final day in business will probably be the day when we put money before the environment. The least we could do is carefully use the resources that Earth has given us and always look for new ways to give back.

Which one or two of your top sustainability-related projects are you most proud of?

Our finest accomplishment is undoubtedly providing zero-waste items to our neighborhood. Although it is essential to minimize emissions in the first place, we formerly thought it was vital to balance the emissions brought on by a product. Although there is now a modest market for zero waste alternatives, we anticipate that soon this idea will dominate in emerging nations.

We are a carbon positive business and strive to live more sustainably every day. From simple initiatives like having all of our personnel commute to work on sustainable modes of transportation to larger ones like planting approximately 10,000 trees in the last two years to offset our emissions.

Our most successful eco-initiative was establishing a collaboration with Ecotricity and Viva! To advance renewable energy in the UK, we teamed together. How does the collaboration operate? Every time one of our fans signs up for Ecotricity with the promotional code “VEGANBUNNY,” they may give up to £60 to Viva!, the UK’s top vegan advocacy group that specializes in high-profile animal campaigns and undercover investigations. We are thrilled to assist them in their endeavors.

Why is sustainable packaging important to your business?

Even if you put a lot of effort into developing a sustainable product, the environment will still be affected if your company as a whole is not. Given that we live in an internet age, packaging is an important element of the sustainable jigsaw. Because it took us a while to locate a business that shared our ethical principles and was also affordable for our little business, we enjoy working with Packhelp.
